Changelight

yesterday
my dawn broke
like a buckling damn
beneath the
weight of water--
i was
a frightened
mud-soaked
drenched
child...
this morning
some elegance
awoke me
and i walked
through the day
not a child
but a grand lady--
with gloves
and pearls all,
side-saddle
in a lavender gown,
fears and worries
lost someplace
beneath
tumbling field mice
through December gold fields...
